Julia Taylor elected new Chair of the Kawartha Conservation Foundation

July 6, 2017 – Fenelon Falls resident and environmental advocate Julia Taylor has been elected Chair of the Kawartha Conservation Foundation. The election took place during the Foundation’s regular meeting Wednesday afternoon.

“I believe very strongly in the work that Kawartha Conservation does,” said Ms. Taylor. “It is very important work, and something that I'm very passionate about.”

A regular contributor to The Promoter through her ‘It’s Easy Being Green’ column and a member of the City of Kawartha Lakes Environmental Advisory Committee and Fenelon Landfill Public Review Committee, Ms. Taylor said her focus as Chair of the Foundation will be member recruitment and developing grant and funding opportunities while increasing events at Ken Reid Conservation Area.

“It is crucial that we educate and bring awareness to the broader community about things like lake management planning, shoreline naturalization, tree planting and climate change, but also the benefits of spending time in nature,” Ms. Taylor said. “Kawartha Conservation has wonderful spaces across the watershed at their conservation areas, so creating opportunities and events to bring more people to these wonderful places is definitely something we will be working towards.

“Kawartha Conservation is the leading environmental organization in Kawartha Lakes and I'm excited to help fulfill their mandate through the work of the foundation,” Ms. Taylor added.
