Register today for 25th Annual Kawartha Woodlot Conference

LINDSAY, ON –With only a month to go before the 25th Annual Kawartha Woodlot Conference being held in Lindsay, now is a great time to register for this much-anticipated event.

Being held at Fleming College’s Frost Campus on Saturday, February 10, the annual Woodlot Conference brings together experts, innovators, woodlot owners and managers and more for this one-day event.

This year’s theme ‘Change, Challenge & Opportunity’ will cover topics ranging from climate change, the Environmental Bill of Rights, and the health of Ontario’s forests with a focus on the forests in the region.

“There will be special learning sessions about opportunities for woodlot owners in the carbon markets, seed collecting and forest genetics, tips and tricks for planting butternuts, and more,” said Colin Cassin, the co-Chair of the planning committee.

“Once again a great line-up of speakers and timely learning sessions geared to the interests and needs of woodlot owners makes the 25th annual conference a must-attend event,” Mr. Cassin added.

The Kawartha Woodlot Conference is the largest regional conference of its kind and provides a unique opportunity for members of the forestry community to interacted with industry experts and learn about emerging tools, trends and best practices.

“Attendees can also look forward to the popular tradeshow, where companies and organizations will have the opportunity to showcase products and service with conference participants.

The Conference kicks off at 8:30 a.m. and a hot lunch is included with registration. There are a variety of packages and rates available for Conference participants and tradeshow delegates. Eleanor Reed, President of the Kawartha Chapter (Ontario Woodlot Association) said she looks forward to this event because it is a chance to bring the membership together to learn from experts and share experiences.

“Private woodlot owners play an important role in forest conservation,” Eleanor explains. “This conference is one of our efforts to support the work that they are doing.”

The Kawartha Woodlot Conference is a collaborative effort by a number of local organizations and is led by the Kawartha Chapter of the Ontario Woodlot Association.
