March 29, 2018 – Are you interested in becoming an Environmental Education Leader? Do you enjoy working with children and have a passion for nature?
Kawartha Conservation is hosting a two-day workshop to learn skills and build experience with our Nature Explorer Children’s Summer Camp.
The workshop is open to youth between the ages of 13 and 15. As part of the Youth Outdoor Leadership Workshop and training, participants will earn their volunteer hours required for secondary school graduation.
Over the course of the two days participants with learn the fundamentals of leadership and youth outdoor education such as team building, health and safety, activity structure, creating guidelines, motivation, self-awareness and effective communication. Participants will also get to explore and test out some of our planned camp activities and design one of their own.
In order to earn the Youth Outdoor Leadership Certificate, participants will be required to volunteer at one of our Nature Explorer Camp weeks during the July and August.
The Nature Explorer Camp is a week-long outdoor education camp that is run by Fleming College and Kawartha Conservation for children 6-10 years of age. The camp teaches children about nature and the environment through fun hands on activities. Each day of the camp is a new theme with new activities. Camps run from 8:00-4:30 pm throughout July and August, and camp locations alternate between Fleming College Campus in Lindsay and Ken Reid Conservation Area.
