June 24, 2019 – There is still time to offer your feedback on the Ken Reid Conservation Area Master Plan and help determine the future direction of the popular conservation area.
“We have had a tremendous response to our survey and thank everyone who has taken the time to respond and offer their input,” said Brianna Callaghan, Watershed Resources Strategist. “Getting as much feedback from the community and Ken Reid users is integral to putting forward a long-term plan that we can all be proud of and be excited about.”
The existing Ken Reid Conservation Area Master Plan was first established in 1983, and while usage has increased substantially over the last 30 plus years, there haven’t been any major changes to the plan.
“The Ken Reid Conservation Area Master Plan will assist Kawartha Conservation staff with the management, operation and development of Ken Reid Conservation Area,” said Ms. Callaghan. “Through the development of the Ken Reid Conservation Area Master Plan, Kawartha Conservation staff will liaise with conservation area users, communities, and other stakeholders including local businesses, residents, and municipal staff to get input and ideas.”
Among recent changes to Ken Reid Conservation Area, an accessible trail and accessible viewing platform have been constructed and open to the public, as well as trail enhancements, accessible washrooms and the refurbishment of the Cedar Forest Boardwalk.
“There are lots of great things happening at Ken Reid Conservation Area, and we want to make sure that the public has an opportunity to provide input on the things were doing, and where they would like to see us go in the future,” said Ms. Callaghan. “The survey is a great way to provide feedback and offer some insight into the things people love about Ken Reid, and some areas they would like to see additional features added.”
The survey will be open until July 8. To complete the survey and provide your feedback and input, visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/KenReid.
