AUGUST 12, 2019 – There are a number of benefits to using rain barrels to harvest water, and Kawartha Conservation is giving you two more: great prices and the opportunity to help others, while you help yourself.
Kawartha Conservation’s 2019 Rain Barrel sale orders end on August 26, with pick up slated for August 31.
“This is a perfect opportunity to order rain barrels and accessories at great prices,” said Stewardship Coordinator Holly Shipclark. “People can order 180 litre (47 Gallon) or 220 Litre (55 Gallon) rain barrels and a number of accessories from wooden rain barrel stands to downspout diverters, hose and more.”
The annual rain barrel sale benefits Kawartha Conservation while providing area residents with a number of rain barrel options.
“There are so many benefits to using water collected from rain barrels,” said Ms. Shipclark. “Rainwater is much better for your plants and soil which makes it perfect for watering hangers and baskets, and it also helps keep your water bills lower in urban areas with water systems.”
With increasingly more frequent extreme weather from extreme low water conditions to excessive rain, more and more people are recognizing the value of rain water harvesting and the cost benefits to using naturally occurring rain water to water lawns and gardens rather than relying on water from the tap.
“Rain barrels are a perfect way to harvest rainwater,” said Ms. Shipclark. “We are certainly seeing more people interested in rain water harvesting opportunities and our 2019 rain barrel sale is a great way to take advantage of that.”
All rain barrels and accessories will be ready for pick up on Saturday, August 31 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Kawartha Conservation field centre, next to the administrative centre.
