The summer weather has finally arrived! The warm season brings longer days and more fun outdoors. However, it also comes with severe weather hazards such as thunderstorms and flooding.
Thunderstorms can suddenly develop during the warmer months and are often accompanied by strong winds, hail, lightning, and heavy rain. In some areas, especially urbanized locations, thunderstorms can cause flash flooding when large amounts of heavy rain occur in a short period of time.

JANUARY 12, 2022 – Due to an overwhelming response, the first Forest Therapy session scheduled for Bell Let’s Talk Day on January 26, 2022 has reached capacity, but Kawartha Conservation will be hosting a second session the same day, January 26, 2022 from 2pm to 3:30pm at Ken Reid Conservation Area.

MAY 10, 2022 – Seven Forty Six is throwing its support behind local environmental efforts with a new year-long partnership with Kawartha Conservation.
Seven Forty Six will donate 5 percent of all proceeds from the sale of their Kawartha Series and Lake Series clothing to the watershed-based, non-profit organization established in 1979.

With warmer weather arriving as we head into March break, Kawartha Conservation is reminding residents, parents and children of the dangers that exist around local streams, rivers, ponds, and lakes during the spring breakup and urges people to keep family and pets away from all waterways.
