2023 Tree Seedling Sale is now open

NOVEMBER 21, 2022 – Kawartha Conservation’s 2023 Tree Seedling Sale is now open, offering a wide selection of low-cost evergreen and deciduous trees, as well as shrubs and several advancing species to landowners throughout the Kawartha Conservation watershed, including portions of the Kawartha Lakes, Trent Lakes, Brock and Scugog Townships, Clarington, and Cavan-Monaghan.

With 20,000 seedlings and a variety of new species available for purchase, this year’s sale is a fantastic opportunity for landowners to make improvements to their property while making a positive impact on the local environment.

“Planting trees on your property is an easy way to create shade, purify the air, help prevent flooding and erosion, increase forest cover, and so much more,” said Colleen Cathcart, Kawartha Conservation’s Forestry and Landowner Technician. “Whether you’re looking to provide habitat for plants and animals, strengthen your shoreline, increase property value, or anything in between, there are tons of species available to suit your planting needs.”

Landowners can choose from 24 different species of deciduous trees, evergreen trees, and shrubs, each of which are suited to unique soil and weather conditions. Included in the sale is a variety of maple trees, spruce, oak, and dogwood, as well as new species such as sycamore, pussy willow, Kentucky coffee tree, and many more.

Those interested in spring planting can order tree seedlings through our website before the closing date of March 17, 2023, at 4pm. Once your order has been placed, you will receive confirmation to pay for your order online. Once payment has been received, your order will be processed and you will be contacted to schedule a pickup time on either Friday, April 28 or Saturday, April 29, 2023.

The 2023 order form, as well as detailed information on pricing and conditions, is available at www.kawarthaconservation.com/TreeSales.

“By purchasing seedlings from this year’s sale, you are helping us reach our goal of creating 22 new acres of forest cover in 2023,” explained Cathcart. “Order your seedlings today and help make a positive impact on the local environment for generations to come.”
