2025 Tree Seedling Sale now open at Kawartha Conservation

LINDSAY, ONTARIO - Planting trees has never been easier or more affordable. Kawartha Conservation is excited to announce the launch of the 2025 Tree Seedling Sale, offering residents and landowners the perfect opportunity to enhance their properties while contributing to a greener, healthier watershed.

“Our tree seedling sale isn’t just for environmental enthusiasts, it’s for everyone,” said Will Chapple, Forestry and Landowner Technician at Kawartha Conservation. “It’s always a challenge to choose the right tree species for your property. To help with this, we have prepared a Species Information Guide that discusses the ideal conditions for each species, and their practical uses for the landscape. The Guide is available on our website, so please do give it a read. If you still have questions, give me a call! I am always happy to talk trees.”

This year's selection of 23 different species (9 deciduous/hardwood, 5 conifer, 9 shrub and specialty species) caters to diverse soil and weather conditions, ensuring that every landowner finds the right match for their planting needs.

"With climate change at the forefront of conservation, we are proud to be participating in assisted migration of traditionally Carolinian species” Chapple added. “For residents in the southern areas of our watershed, purchasing Carolinian species like sycamore will contribute to the longevity of our forests in a changing climate.”

The 2025 sale includes native North American species such as maples, sycamore, oaks, and dogwood, alongside new available species such as hackberry, bitternut and more. A bundle of 25 seedlings starts at $43.50 and will arrive under 18 inches tall.

“Planting trees is one of the simplest and most impactful ways to make a difference,” Chapple explained. “You can think of each tree and shrub seedling as an investment in the health of our local watershed and planet. With these seedlings, you will contribute to restoring vital wildlife habitats, improving soil and air quality, and combatting climate change.”

The ordering process is simple and convenient:
