Kawartha Conservation and Two Blokes Cider launch Lip Sumacker in support of the environment

JULY 21, 2023 – Kawartha Conservation, a leading environmental organization committed to protecting and restoring the Kawartha watershed, is thrilled to announce a new partnership with Two Blokes Cider, a renowned local cidery located just north of Port Perry. Together, they are launching the Lip Sumacker, Sumac Lemonade Cider, a refreshing summer beverage that not only tantalizes taste buds but also contributes to environmental preservation.

Lip Sumacker is a delightful blend of bright, juicy Ontario apples and native sumac berries, resulting in a tangy and lemony cider that embodies the essence of summer. With each sip, cider lovers will be transported to the dockside, cherishing the memories of carefree days. However, the appeal of Lip Sumacker extends beyond its delicious flavor.

Recognizing the importance of a healthy and vibrant watershed, Two Blokes Cider has pledged to donate $0.50 from every bottle sold to support environmental programs led by Kawartha Conservation. These initiatives aim to protect and enhance the region's natural resources, ensuring a sustainable future for both the ecosystem and the community.

Matthew Somerville, Co-founder of Two Blokes Cider, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership.

"At Two Blokes Cider, we believe that supporting the environment is not just a responsibility, but a necessity,” he said. “The Lip Sumacker embodies our commitment to both exceptional taste and environmental stewardship. By joining forces with Kawartha Conservation, we can make a tangible impact and contribute to the preservation of our precious natural surroundings."

Mark Majchrowski, Chief Administrative Officer of Kawartha Conservation, commended the collaboration.

"We are thrilled to partner with Two Blokes Cider, an amazing local business that shares our vision of prioritizing the environment and community well-being. Their commitment to donating a portion of sales from Lip Sumacker to support our environmental programs demonstrates their dedication to making a positive difference,” he said. “Together, we can achieve even greater strides in conserving and enhancing our watershed."

Robert Rock, Chair of the Kawartha Conservation Board of Directors, emphasized the significance of this partnership.

"Partnerships like the one between Kawartha Conservation and Two Blokes Cider are invaluable. By aligning our efforts, we can foster a stronger sense of environmental stewardship and inspire others to take action,” Rock said. “We are excited to collaborate with Two Blokes Cider and look forward to a fruitful relationship that benefits both our organization and the community we serve."

The Lip Sumacker, Sumac Lemonade Cider will be available for purchase throughout the summer season at Two Blokes Cider's tasting room. With each bottle enjoyed, individuals can relish the taste of summer while supporting the conservation and restoration efforts of Kawartha Conservation.
