Scugog Ward 3 Councillor Robert Rock
MAY 3, 2023 – Scugog Ward 3 Councillor, and Chair of the Kawartha Conservation Board of Directors has been elected Vice-Chair of the Conservation Ontario Board of Directors.

Conservation Ontario is an organization that represents the interests of Ontario's 36 Conservation Authorities. It is the voice of the Conservation Authorities and works to promote the role of conservation in Ontario. As the Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors, Coun. Rock will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the organization and advocating for conservation across the province.

Coun. Rock said he felt it was important to bring continuity to the Kawartha Conservation Board of Directors as the only returning elected official and it was his passion for the conservation authority and the work it has done that inspired him to pursue the role with Conservation Ontario.

"I am honoured to have been elected as the Vice-Chair of the Conservation Ontario Board of Directors," said Coun. Rock. "I have a real passion for the conservation authority and the great work that they do, and I wanted to share that passion, and my skills and background with the Conservation Ontario Board of Directors and with the other 35 conservation authorities across the province.”

Kawartha Conservation CAO Mark Majchrowski said Coun. Rock’s passion and enthusiasm for the important work conservation authorities do make him a natural choice for Vice-Chair at the Conservation Ontario table.

“Since being acclaimed as Chair of the Kawartha Conservation Board of Directors, Coun. Rock has been an engaged and inspiring advocate and leader for the important work we do,” said Mr. Majchrowski. “Coun. Rock has an incredible interest in our work, and we are fortunate he is now sharing that passion and interest with our collective conservation authorities across the province in his role as Vice-Chair of the Conservation Ontario Board of Directors.”

“I look forward to working with Conservation Ontario and Kawartha Conservation to advocate various levels of government to protect and enhance our natural resources and promote sustainable development in our communities,” Coun. Rock added.
