Kawartha Conservation elects new Chair and Vice-Chair for 2024
JANUARY 30, 2024 – To kick-off its 2024 Annual General Meeting, the Kawartha Conservation Board of Directors welcomed new leadership, furthering its enduring dedication to environmental stewardship and watershed management.
Pat Warren, representing Ward 2 from the City of Kawartha Lakes, has been elected as the new Chair, and is well positioned for this role given several previous terms serving as both Chair and Vice-Chair in the past. Known for her environmental advocacy, Warren also served as Vice-Chair of the Board during 2023 and brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the Kawartha watershed.
Joining Warren is Township of Scugog, Ward 4 Councillor, Harold Wright, elected as the Vice-Chair. Wright's commitment to the environment and his proactive approach to conservation initiatives have been pivotal in driving positive change within the community.
During the AGM, Mark Majchrowski, CAO of Kawartha Conservation, highlighted the significant achievements of the past year in the 2023 Annual Report.
"Our team's dedication to conserving and enhancing the Kawartha watershed has been exceptional,” said Majchrowski. “We've seen remarkable progress in advancing our environmental initiatives and working to provide a safer and more resilient future, reflecting our ongoing commitment to the community." said Majchrowski.
The meeting also featured the introduction of the '2023 Year in Review' video, showcasing the Conservation Authority's impactful work in 2023. This visual journey underscores the Conservation's key projects and successes, further illustrating its vital role in environmental conservation and sustainable development.
Warren and Wright, stepping into their new roles, expressed gratitude for the trust placed in them and eagerness to advance the mission of Kawartha Conservation. The outgoing leadership was commended for their significant contributions, setting a strong foundation for the future.
