Kawartha Conservation is hosting a Forest Therapy session on Bell Let's Talk Day

JANUARY 3, 2022 – Kawartha Conservation will be hosting a forest therapy session on Wednesday, January 26th, from 12:00 noon to 1:30pm at Ken Reid Conservation Area in recognition of and participation in Bell Let’s Talk Day.

Forest Therapy is a meditative experience that includes slow, mindful movement throughout the forest and thoughtful discussion and reflection on personal feelings and experiences.

“This forest therapy session is going to include activities that encourage mindfulness, relaxation, and grounding oneself. This is going to be a very open, relaxed and safe environment free of judgement and open to anyone who wants to participate.” said Director of Stewardship and Conservation Lands, Kristie Virgoe. “The cost for participation is $10, with all proceeds being donated to the Canadian Mental Health Association.”

Bell Let’s Talk Day is a nationally recognized event that focuses on supporting mental health through the promotion of anti-stigma language and action, access to support programs and funding for research, all while broadening discussion about mental health.

“The qualities of Forest Therapy align very closely to Bell Let’s Talk’s initiatives,” explained Virgoe. “One of the most important parts of this day is to focus on empathy, strengthening connections with loved ones, and reflecting on your feelings. Forest Therapy is the perfect way to slow down and release stress while realigning your thoughts and connecting with the world around you, on your own or alongside friends and family.”
