Kawartha Conservation launches public survey to shape Conservation Areas Strategy
JUNE 28, 2024 - KAWARTHA LAKES, ONTARIO - Kawartha Conservation has launched a public survey aimed at gathering valuable community input for the development of a new Conservation Areas Strategy. This initiative is designed to guide the decision-making process for the management and enhancement of our conservation areas, ensuring they reflect the values and priorities of our community.
The Conservation Areas Strategy will align with the Vision, Mission, and Goals of Kawartha Conservation, emphasizing our commitment to preserving natural spaces, promoting environmental stewardship, and enhancing the overall well-being of our community. We believe that the insights and feedback from our residents and visitors are crucial in creating a strategy that truly represents the collective vision for our conservation areas.
Kristie Virgoe, Director of Stewardship and Conservation Lands at Kawartha Conservation, expressed the importance of community involvement in this process.
“Our conservation areas are treasured by so many, and it’s essential that we hear from those who use and value these spaces,” she said. “By participating in the survey, community members have a unique opportunity to help shape the future of our conservation areas, ensuring they remain vibrant, sustainable, and accessible for generations to come.”
The survey seeks input on a variety of topics, including community health, physical and mental well-being, habitats and sustainability of ecosystems, conservation priorities, and suggestions for improvements. By understanding the diverse perspectives of our community, we can develop a comprehensive strategy that meets the needs and aspirations of all stakeholders.
We invite everyone who enjoys the natural beauty and tranquility of our conservation areas to take part in this important survey. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us create a strategy that not only preserves our natural heritage but also enhances the visitor experience.
The survey is available online at https://kawarthaconservation.com/conservationsurvey and will remain open until the end of August. We encourage you to share your thoughts and help us shape the future of our conservation areas.
