Reconnect with Nature and Support Mental Health through FREE Forest Therapy sessions at Ken Reid Conservation Area

The 90-minute sessions will take place on Wednesday, January 22, at Ken Reid Conservation Area.

Forest Therapy, also known as forest bathing, is a practice rooted in mindfulness and immersion in the natural world. Research has shown that spending time in nature can reduce stress, improve mood, and enhance cognitive function, including memory, attention, and problem-solving skills.

“This is an opportunity to slow down and truly connect with nature in a meaningful way,” said Virgoe. “Forest Therapy allows us to step away from the demands of our busy lives and tune into the healing power of the natural world. It’s a simple yet profound experience that benefits our mental, physical, and emotional well-being.”

Participants will engage in a series of guided activities designed to awaken their senses and deepen their connection to the environment. Unlike hiking or jogging, Forest Therapy emphasizes being present and mindful, using the senses to explore and appreciate the natural world.

The sessions are open to all and free of charge, though donations in support of the Canadian Mental Health Association are welcomed and appreciated.
