Second Forest Therapy session added for Bell Let's Talk Day

JANUARY 12, 2022 – Due to an overwhelming response, the first Forest Therapy session scheduled for Bell Let’s Talk Day on January 26, 2022 has reached capacity, but Kawartha Conservation will be hosting a second session the same day, January 26, 2022 from 2pm to 3:30pm at Ken Reid Conservation Area.

To ensure your spot, make sure to register early. Cut-off for registration will be January 21, 2022 at 4pm. The cost for participation is $10, with all proceeds being donated to the Canadian Mental Health Association.

“Anyone is welcome to join us for this forest therapy session, and everyone will experience it in a different way,” said certified forest therapy guide and Director of Stewardship and Conservation Lands, Kristie Virgoe. “Through this session, we will be creating an open and safe environment that encourages mindfulness, relaxation and reflection, with an emphasis on mental health and mental wellness.”

Forest Therapy is a meditative experience that includes slow, mindful movement throughout the forest and thoughtful discussion and reflection on personal feelings and experiences.

Bell Let’s Talk Day is a nationally recognized event that focuses on supporting mental health through the promotion of anti-stigma language and action, access to support programs and funding for research, all while broadening discussion about mental health.

“We are very pleased to be able provide a second session of Forest Therapy to our community in recognition of Bell Let’s Talk Day,” continued Virgoe. “This is a fantastic opportunity to reconnect with nature, release some stress, gain new experiences and feel the support and presence of the community around you.”
