Sponsors jump on board for Explore Nature Challenge
JULY 29, 2021 – The Kawartha Conservation Foundation’s Explore Nature Challenge kicks off this weekend and the response to date has been overwhelming. Sponsors have come on board to support the initiative, which promotes individuals, families and friends getting outside, enjoying nature and getting exercise.
“We are so thankful for the positive response we received from sponsors and participants,” said Foundation Chair Pat Warren. “We really wanted to create an event that could involve the entire community, and the response has been more than we could have asked for. We’re thrilled.”
To date, six key sponsors have joined the Explore Nature Challenge: Home By Tim+Chris, Fenelon Falls Brewing Co., Nortech Home Improvements Inc., ServPro Peterborough, B Armstrong Contracting and Peter Shennett Professional Corporation.
“Thanks to our wonderful sponsors, we have been able to create an event we know our community will love,” said Foundation member Jason Kerr. “We wanted to create something that would be both fun and potentially challenging for participants of all ages and abilities, and the Explore Nature Challenge is just that.”
The event runs from August 2 until Thanksgiving weekend and challenges participants to walk, bike, hike, run or skip every trail at Ken Reid Conservation Area.
“Some participants might want to take on the challenge of completing every trail in one day or one weekend, while others may choose to come and explore a different trail each weekend throughout the next couple of months,” said Mr. Kerr. “Whatever people want to do to complete the challenge, we want people to enjoy themselves, take the time to appreciate the outdoors and time spent with family and friends.”
There is still plenty of time to register and get involved in the Explore Nature Challenge. To learn more and to register visit Kawartha Conservation online at https://www.kawarthaconservation.com/ExploreNatureChallenge/.
Participants will all receive a recognition medal once complete and a tree will be planted for each participant in Ken Reid Conservation Area while raising money to support important conservation initiatives in the community.
“We are looking forward to hearing about peoples’ experience with the event and hope to create additional events moving forward that help inspire individuals and families to embrace the environment, experience nature, and enjoy all of the physical, mental and emotional benefits of spending time outdoors,” said Ms. Warren.
