Step into Enchantment: The Illuminated Forest returns to Ken Reid Conservation Area

NOVEMBER 24, 2022 – Kawartha Conservation staff are thrilled to announce the return of the enchanting "Illuminated Forest" for its second consecutive year, following its phenomenal success in 2022.

Transforming the Cedar Forest into a mesmerizing wonderland, The Illuminated Forest features hundreds of trees adorned with thousands of twinkling lights, crafting a magical nighttime trail that captivates visitors of all ages.

For the month of December, beginning December 2, following Christmas at Ken Reid, visitors have the chance to immerse themselves in the festive spirit as they wander through this radiant display. The Illuminated Forest not only offers a unique opportunity to experience the beauty of the forest after dark but also provides a canvas for creating new holiday traditions with family and friends.

Location: Cedar Forest, Ken Reid Conservation Area

  • Time: Nightly, from dusk until 9:00 PM
Admission
  • Parking: $4 per vehicle
  • Donations: Accepted throughout December to support the Illuminated Forest initiative

The Illuminated Forest provides a safe and festive environment for all, encouraging visitors to embrace the holiday spirit while surrounded by the natural beauty of the Cedar Forest.

“Donations received throughout the month of December at the Illuminated Forest help support our community events throughout the year,” explained Kristie Virgoe, Director of Stewardship and Conservation Lands. “Free events like our annual Fall Festival and Christmas at Ken Reid are made possible through the generous sponsorships and donations we receive.

“So by supporting Kawartha Conservation, you’re supporting an entire community, and we couldn’t be more appreciative,” Virgoe added.
