Timeless classic ‘Caps for Sale’ starts this weekend on the Story Walk Trail
AUGUST 31, 2021 – Enjoyed by millions of children and families around the world, the timeless classic ‘Caps for Sale’ finds its way to the Ken Reid Conservation Area Story Walk Trail just in time for the Labour Day weekend.
‘Caps for Sale’ is one of the most popular picture books ever published and tells the story of a peddler and a band of mischievous monkeys, filled with warmth, humour while also teaching about problem and resolution.
“We have had such an amazing response from parents and children and visitors to Ken Reid Conservation Area who enjoy visiting the Story Walk Trail,” said Kristie Virgoe, Director, Stewardship and Conservation Lands. “This partnership with the Kawartha Lakes Public Library has been such a tremendous addition to the visitor experience at Ken Reid and we’re grateful for the opportunity to share a different story each month with our community and visitors.”
‘Caps for Sale’ is an easy-to-read book that includes repetition, patterns and colours and is perfect for early readers.
The Story Walk Trail is located adjacent to the main parking lot near the off-leash dog park.
“It is a great introduction to Ken Reid and to the many trails we have here,” said Ms. Virgoe. “Visitors and families can enjoy the Story Walk Trail before turning onto the Woodland Loop and experiencing the Talking Forest, viewing platform, accessible trail, marsh boardwalk and more.”
The Kawartha Lakes Public Library chooses a new popular children’s story each month which is transformed into pages for the Story Walk Trail at Ken Reid Conservation Area.
‘Caps for Sale’ will kick-off Saturday, September 4.
