Legal Process for Building Officials and Designers Exam Prep course offered at Kawartha Conservation
JUNE 13, 2023 – Kawartha Conservation is pleased to announce two comprehensive exam preparation courses for building officials, designers, and professionals in the construction industry. The Legal Process for Building Officials and Designers - Exam Prep course will take place from November 6-10, 2023, followed by the Ontario Building Code Part 8, On-site Sewage Systems Exam Prep course from November 13-17, 2023.
The Legal Process for Building Officials and Designers - Exam Prep course is designed to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and understanding of legal processes relevant to building officials and designers. Participants will delve into the legal framework, including the Ontario Building Code Act, the Planning Act, and the Municipal Act. The course will cover topics such as building permits, inspections, appeals, and dispute resolution. It will provide attendees with the tools and insights needed to navigate legal challenges effectively and ensure compliance with the law.
The Ontario Building Code Part 8, On-site Sewage Systems Exam Prep course focuses specifically on the regulations and requirements outlined in Part 8 of the Ontario Building Code. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of on-site sewage systems, including design, installation, operation, and maintenance. The course will cover the examination syllabus, preparing participants to successfully complete the on-site sewage systems exam. This training will enable professionals to confidently handle on-site sewage systems projects in compliance with the Ontario Building Code.

Led by instructor Jeffrey Chalmers, CET, CBCO, he has over 40 years experience in building code interpretation and enforcement as a plan’s examiner, inspector, chief building official, building code consultant and instructor of building code courses. Jeff has extensive knowledge in all areas of the Ontario code and has helped develop new training courses in the Ontario Building Code and the National Building Code, for training across Canada.
