Flood Messages

A Flood Watch is now in effect for the Kawartha Conservation watershed jurisdiction. No widespread flooding is expected; however, flooding in low-lying areas, areas adjacent to streams and road ditches may occur.

Widespread flooding is not anticipated, however water levels and flows in watercourses across the Kawartha Conservation watershed jurisdiction remain elevated due to the ongoing spring melt and near saturated ground conditions. WATERSHED CONDITIONS STATEMENT – WATER SAFETY.

Based on information received from the Surface Water Monitoring Centre of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, Kawartha Conservation is issuing a Watershed Conditions Statement for the upcoming weekend. A big, complex, and slow-moving low-pressure system is forecast to enter Ontario late Friday- early Saturday and will stay over the province until Monday, producing substantial amounts of rain all three days.

The first week of spring will bring a mix of snow and rain, with expected rainfall totalling 15-20 mm followed by cooler temperatures into the weekend and another 10-15 mm of snow and/or rainfall. WATERSHED CONDITIONS STATEMENT – WATER SAFETY.

A strong low-pressure system moving into Ontario during the overnight hours Thursday, March 16 is expected to bring warming temperatures and the potential for significant precipitation. .

Environment Canada is tracking a significant winter storm that is expected to pass through the Kawartha Conservation jurisdiction over the next few days. Precipitation, up to 15mm of rainfall followed by 20 - 25cm of snow, is forecasted for the Kawartha region starting on Thursday, December 22, 2022, through to Saturday, December 24, 2022.
